The international English drama competition for lower secondary school students, STAGING CULTURAL TREASURES, was initiated in 2009 by "William Shakespeare" High School, Timişoara, Romania.
"William Shakespeare" High School is an English intensive school, which focuses not only on the development of language fluency, but also on better and deeper communication between students, teachers and members of the national and international community.
One way of bringing people together is art which, we all know, speaks an international language. Of all the arts we have chosen drama so that we can give the students the chance to practise and enrich their language and artistic skills while reinventing themselves on stage.
Our endeavour was approved in 2009 by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research and included in the National and International Calendar of Educational Activities.
The positive feedback received from past participants encouraged us to continue our work and we are looking forward to this year’s edition.
